Terry Sawatzky Meta Nav : IMAGES

Hi, Fans! Welcome to the New Era of Red Border Meta Navigation.
The idea is this:You can do a Google Image Search of
Terry Sawatzky
to find the visual link back to this blog entry
and this is where I'll put links to
IMAGES.
(This will roll out over time as all things change constantly.)

My Tumblr Blog - has some images of my sculpture among other things.

From my digital deconstructivist phase

Two Mac classics
From the
Deconstruction:Classic Show.
The top one actually worked for a couple of weeks,
until a random bit of static
caused a catastrophic failure.
I modified the relic into several non-electical sculptures
after that.
The bottom photo documents the process of PhotoChopping (my word)
some images in Photoshop on my MacBook Pro
and
saving them to a USB floppy drive (purchased for this purpose alone).
The floppy was then inserted in the modified Mac Classic
(note the vertical screen)
and put into a database to be accessed by
a program I wrote (on the Mac Classic)
in Chipmunk Basic.

So many options...

Here's a random selfie from last year sometime.
I'm still trying to sort out all the
AutoMagic
Settings
And
Choices
available in the world of all things
iPad.
Easy.
If you have several lifetimes to sort out
all the options.

Post-Contemporary

This was built in Flash.
A beautiful but time consuming technique
known as a Shape Tween.
Flash has become difficult to integrate into the net,
but non Action Script bits can be saved
as a gif!

Bookshelf on my Mind

Too much information.
I got my first computer about
I can't tell you how many times
an
upgrade
has completely destroyed
everything I had built up to that point.
House of Cards!

Bad Photoshop - Quick and Dirty

I feel a series
coming on.
The Devil is in the details.
So why not just
leave them out?
Too many notes,
just take some of them out
and it will be fine.

Insidewalk

Only 11,000 others
in the digital
world
put together
inside
and
sidewalk
and came up with
insidewalk.
and most of them
appended it with
sale.

The Original Terry Sawatzky Infinite Feedback Loop

Okay so I had this idea
that talking about
myself
was kinda like this image of
my head infinitely popping
out of my mouth.
So,
I said,
"Fine, I can whip that image up in
Photoshop -
my Favorite program since Flash upgraded
from AS1."
Later another related idea crossed
my sketchbook -
"If I Like my blog posts,
and like all the sites that report
that I like my blog posts and like all those posts as well..."
You get the drift?
It could go on and on.
As an infinite self appreciating
feedback loop.
Now, you can tell what happened, right?
I combined the tongue-transforming-into-a-head
image
with the
'I like Me'
text
-or is it subText?-
and created this
Good Olde Fashioned PostModern Self-referential
Blog Post Post!

In The Livingroom

You can get a slightly
larger
version by clicking on the image
but I'm still not entirely
happy with the results I'm getting
here.
After all, I started with seven
60kb images and
the Photoshop animation technigue
turns it into 150 images.
Almost as bad as video.
Well, at least I've got
a handle
on
the uploading elsewhere and
linking process.

The After Picture

Wow!
That was a long break -
so much has happened.
I am planning to simplify my web plans by putting more stuff on my Blog.
We'll see how the organization works,
I think I'll have to sketch it out on paper and then
translate to the digital version.
I don't seem to be able to work directly on my laptop
right now.
But for starters I'll add more pictures
and see how the balance of time, space, and soul work out ...
Even if some one in the other room is singing
while I try to do it.

Stretch

After all the years I've spent investigating Multimedia
there are times like this
when I just want to go back to
building animated Giffs!!
I've spent thousands of dollars
and thousands of hours
learning the conventions,
and the techniques ...
...and yet...
it's the stuff that I initially did
when I
"didn't know anything"
that keeps calling to me.
I've stretched, sure...
But it's time to reintegrate.

The Natural

I so rarely post unmodified
images that I feel
like I almost have to apologize or explain
when I do.
Yes, this is what I really look like.
Yes, it's a webcam shot, you can tell, right?
It's funny how in a very short period of time
-my lifetime-
photography has moved from being
a black art
to
ubiquitous.
Once
"seeing is believing"
applied to photography,
now we look at photos and nod knowingly -
"gotta be Photoshop"
or, my term,
"Photo-Chopped".
It's so expected that unmodified pictures
give me pause ...
"What? A natural?
I didn't know they still existed!"
I'll add the modified version later,
see if you can tell what I was thinking
and why.

Terry Sawatzky

This self titled blogspot does
connect to me,
Terry Sawatzky,
the guy in the picture,
the guy who builds sculpture.
And works full time at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
(KPU)
As a Sculpture Technician.
And occasionally at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
(ECUAD)
In the Metal Shop or Industrial Design.
And occasionally at the University of British Columbia.
(UBC)
Robson Square Media.
So this does seem like a good spot to put further news and links.
...
I probably will.
We'll see how long the edits take to show up.
UPDATE:
2017
I'm still at KPU
but now I'm called an
Instructional Associate.
My most recent notion
on the thread of
Web Presence
is
Red Border Meta Nav.
